Even today, the civil rights advancements that have been made like the Indian Child Welfare Act, which was passed in response to the destructively high number of children being removed from indigenous communities, is under attack.https://chronicleofsocialchange.org/featured/indian-child-welfare-act-fire-federal-judge-strikes-law-aimed-ending-separation-native-children-families-tribes …

Yes you can and he did. Tribes of Indians killed and took lands for thousands of years, but when the white man does it it’s unconscionable, racist, genocide etc. history is written by winners. Columbus discovered America and this land became wholly United as one country.
-
Got to love the whole well white men weren't the first to do it defense. I agree History is written by the victors. BUt in the end evolution always wins, ask the Inka's and Myan's how that worked out. As for United, this country is more divided now than it was 50 years ago.
-
Nah, it ain’t that the white men weren’t the first to do it, it’s simply because a white man did that you have a problem. Don’t forget this, never forget this, that what is uniquely American is that we lost 600,000 Americans fighting to end slavery. Politics by design r decisiv
-
Nice assumption. Reality is I dont expect you to make amends for what some white guys did 200+ years ago. I do find it rather self serving taking the mentality of we won, get over it that white men TODAY seem to have in far too many instances.
-
Right. Best of luck to you.
-
Best to you as well. And here is to hoping our great grandkids are not having these same jacked up debates.
-
Amen brother... we may disagree but let’s do it respectfully.

of course you can.. I can discover a rabbit hole at the bottom of my garden although the rabbits have been living there for years
-
Ah yes, those self-aware rabbits with their well developed cultures.
-
His point being, of course, that discovering something literally has nothing to do with whether or not someone else already knows it’s there. By saying Columbus didn’t discover the New World because of Native Americans, you’re really saying you don’t know what “discovery” means.
-
I’ll use the English Language Learners definition of “discovery” so you can keep up. The key words there are “for the first time” so how could Columbus find someplace millions of other sentient beings already lived in? What you’re both really saying is the natives didn’t count.pic.twitter.com/XYaiw8N2ce

I can’t tell if you’re trolling. Assuming you’re being sincere, it’s relative to the person’s (or group’s, culture’s, etc) perspective. For example,if you discover a new way home from work one day, it doesn’t mean no one knew about that path before you. It’s just new info to you.
-
That would be a self discovery you're describing. Colombus is credited for discovering something that had already been discovered. I can't get a Nobel Prize for discovering how DNA is coded in a text book now can I?
-
Self discovery is where you discover something about your self. “I traveled the world to find myself only to discover I hate traveling.”

Exactly, Congresswoman. This is what we want for Southern Cameroons
#Ambazonia. We don't want our past "forgotten", and we want to protect our future and progress. Else, our children will never know where we came from, because Cameroun is trying at all cost to assimilate us.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
