This is a huge victory for student borrowers. Today’s court ruling means that a set of Obama-era regulations, which protect students from predatory for-profit schools, will go into effect immediately. The Dept of Ed should never have delayed these regulations in the first place.

. recognizes her attempt to delay relief for defrauded student borrowers has always been unlawful. It should not take a series of legal proceedings to convince the administration to stand with students.

In fact, ACICS-approved school are performing EVEN WORSE compared to 2016, when the Obama admin first revoked ACICS’s power to accredit schools. But – despite all the evidence – the Trump administration is planning to allow ACICS to continue accrediting poor-performing schools.

The report found: 1. 70% of students at ACICS-approved colleges end up earning no more than a high school graduate who doesn't go to college at all. 2. Students at ACICS-approved colleges are 2x as likely to have unmanageable debt. This is costing both students and taxpayers.

A new report - just released by - clearly shows that Secretary DeVos will harm both students and taxpayers if she follows that recommendation.

THREAD: 2 weeks ago, a senior Education Dept official (who is also a former for-profit college exec) issued a recommendation: should grant ACICS an additional year as a recognized college accreditor. ACICS has a record of accrediting predatory for-profit schools.

It’s disappointing that Senate Republicans just rejected an effort to protect consumers and ensure all Americans have access to affordable health care.

The Trump administration's move to expand junk health plans threatens coverage for millions with pre-existing conditions. House and Senate Democrats introduced resolutions to block it.

It’s fitting that President Trump’s first veto threat is on a resolution seeking to protect patients with pre-existing conditions.

This "editing error" calls into the question the factual basis for the Department’s decision. ACICS sent the Department thousands of pages of exhibits to support its case. None of those documents have been made available to the public. They should be released immediately.

But there’s a problem: Many of the respected accreditors listed as having sent letters in support of ACICS…deny ever having sent letters in support of ACICS. The Department says this was an “inadvertent error in the editing process.”

Here is an excerpt from the recommendation to grant ACICS an additional year as a recognized college accreditor. This is despite ACICS's record of accrediting many of the worst-performing for-profit schools (See: ITT Tech, Corinthian Colleges).
