Everywhere I go, people tell me that one unexpected expense could throw their family into financial turmoil. Americans are working harder than ever, but wages are staying flat. Let’s put some money back in their pockets.

It is absolutely unconscionable that while many families continue to struggle, President Trump and Republicans in Congress are giving tax cuts to the top 1% and corporations while threatening Social Security and Medicare. It’s time to change that.

The LIFT the Middle Class Act would positively impact an estimated one in every two workers and one in every three children in America. The rich and powerful are doing just fine. We need to do something for the middle class.

What about individuals? Do we get screwed again?
-
THANK YOU! I wonder this EVERY time tax breaks get brought up. Nothing for single, childless ppl. I need help too.
-
We are taxpayers and voters as well and we are struggling. The only response I ever hear is families have it harder. Not saying they dont have it hard. Just saying can individuals dabble in some tax relief too?

I hope her plan includes a cut in the billionaires' tax cut to pay for it and then some.

Please propose something for Seniors who only have Social Security/Pensions on which they are expected to live. Many of us can’t even itemize deductions.

Are you out of your mind? Biggest case of trying to buy votes with public funds. The same thing was done years ago with a half pint of whiskey and a $5 bill. At least it was their whisky and money.
-
Are you out of your mind? GOP donors just reaped their $2 trillion kickback for their citizen's united buying of an election. That was OUR money.

YES! Tax cuts for those who need them and for those who will contribute savings back into the economy by spending. The wealthy hoard, we spend.

What she is proposing is THEFT. But that's all any dem leader does. Steal. Lie. Line their own pockets. And ignorant people fall in line with the bribes because its "free stuff".
-
It's theft to give a tax relief to the middle class, but it's not theft to give a tax relief to the billionaire class. Boy, the GOP sure conditioned you well.

Thanks Sen Harris. As a hardworking California native, I too have trouble keeping up with the CA's rising cost of living. My family's single biggest expenditure is taxes (property, income, sales, gas, etc.). Gov't IS the problem.

Vote Yes on prop 10 if you want to help cali

LOL. Rent controls definitely help a small minority of people at the expense of most everybody else. But, they do give some politicians nice talking points, claiming that they're "helping the people."
-
The only people that are against rent control are landlords and people that like to owned by capitalists. Literally it benefits all working class people.
-
Rent controls generally discourage new construction and upgrades, leading to a stagnation in local markets, thus driving up costs for others while driving down housing quality. But, if a community thinks it's a good idea, they should be free to ruin their own neighborhood.
-
You're buying into the lies that developers are feeding you so they can continue to only build million dollar condos.
-
No, I'm applying the common sense of basic economics.
-
Here's real common sense from SF. No teacher janitor bus driver etc can afford to live there because we gutted rent control. Why would developers think anyone would want to long term move to a city where no infrastructure can be supported? You have to think bigger.
