Bill passed in House tonight reasonable. It has $ for 2 important priorities: border security & disaster relief. No legitimate reason for Dems to shut down government over this. They voted for $800 billion for Obama stimulus but won’t vote for $5 billion to secure our border?

The invests in what Americans value most fiercely—people. This bill shows us that reverence for human life is fundamental to justice, and I'm thankful that so many of my colleagues stand here united in that same confidence today.

I was grateful to CBP officer for informative tour this summer at San Yisdro port of entry. The one she is pointing at is called a ‘fence.’ The other is called a ‘wall.’ The latter helps secure a border, the other doesn’t. Questions? understands so let’s get it done now.

Working across the aisle and in coordination with my counterparts in the Senate, Congress finally passed meaningful and long-overdue reforms to our antiquated juvenile justice system in my Juvenile Justice Reform Act. Now, on to the President’s desk! Read my statement below.

Last night our country lost a great man, president, and patriot. My thoughts go out to the Bush family and all those who knew and loved President George H.W. Bush— a true leader and hero for the American people.

Land O’Lakes is offering care coverage to more farmers nationwide! Association Health Plans (AHP’s) allow more employers to provide care to their employees. I’m proud to have supported legislation that passed the House last year & helps businesses band together to offer AHP’s.

Chairman Shuster agrees—we need a Met Council official review! The board has operated without a locally elected representative for far too long, and the members of the Twin Cities metro area deserve to have a stronger voice in regional government efforts.

Great to see the PUC issue a formal order for the Line 3 replacement plan. I've long been a proponent of replacing the existing line w/ a safer pipeline that continues to support thousands of jobs in CD2 & maintains a steady supply of oil to Pine Bend refinery in Rosemount.
