I worry about this, coz what about people with chronic disease that leaves them with serious pain? What about cancer patients? What about people with any of a variety of chronic pain diseases that can't be managed without a strong pain killer like an opioid? Don't we matter?

All your doing is hurting people that need medications to manage real health issues. I have brought this to the attention of my represtatives in Maryland but not one has responded to my and many others being hurt by poorly written laws

Not one life will be saved. For the sole reason a user chooses to use and also chooses to get clean. You are just enabling them and making it worse. You blamed doctors for it, if that was a legitimate point no one would be using now because doctors are scared to prescribe.

@RepCummings@SenWarren *Please* reach out to the chronic pain community for input. This bill doesn’t seem to contain any references to legitimate use of pain medicine, nor does it appear to be endorsed by anyone from the chronic pain community.#cpp#spoonies#PainManagement -
I also urge you to change all instances of the term “substance use” in the bill to “substance use disorder” or “substance abuse”, to clarify the difference between opioid abuse and legitimate use of pain medicine.
-
Thirdly, please consider adding information regarding legitimate use of pain medicine, or at least make reference to it, so chronic pain patients aren’t erroneously put in the “at risk of substance use disorder” category, which could have *devastating* consequences for them.
-
Chronic pain patients are silent yet *very real* victims of the opioid crisis. Many have had their quality of life plummet after overly cautious doctors stopped prescribing pain medicine altogether, &/or due to general misinformation about long term, responsible pain management.

Both parties work together? You all have not worked with Republicans for a year. We don't swallow this togetherness.
