The separation policy is a policy that embraces cruelty. It is meant to drive Dems to provide funding for a wall. Cruelty must be defeated not negotiated with. Any negotiation will validate cruelty as an affective tactic. It will only result in more cruel acts in the future

This is not an adequate response. Because one person has felt pain it does not justify causing pain to others.
-
She's not one person. There are thousands of Americans who suffered. This was only one clip. Entire families. Entire communities. Properly vet those coming in for asylum. Run it through ports of entry designed to handle it. Keep criminals out, and stop child exploitation.
-
I agree that we should properly vet those seeking asylum, and stop child exploitation. And to do that we need need to NOT CLOSE THE PORTS OF ENTRY and thereby criminalize EVERYONE who is trying to come here to escape violence. Let them actually apply for asylum.
-
Exactly my point. Do NOT close ports of entry. But DO close off the rest of the border to keep out criminal coyotes exploiting the most vulnerable of Latin America!
-
Okay. So I think we are all arguing the same point. Lol. Maybe we need more points of entry that are properly staffed and also more judges to move the asylum claims throw faster. That would be a better use of our financial resources.
-
Yes. And walls are relatively inexpensive - both physical and remote sensing-based. That HELPS catch bad actors and human/drug smugglers. Let all the legit asylum folks in, but via a port of entry with proper vetting and oversight. Mexico won’t/can’t help fight cartels-up to us.

Using taxpayer $$$ to rent a bus, pay employees for overtime, meals, hotel reservations, etc. to go to ANOTHER STATE to grandstand. Sounds like a cover-up for a party.
-
This is official business. Can’t say the same for the millions spent on trips to Mar-a-Lago.

Perhaps you & your colleagues could spend the time to actually fix the immigration laws instead of exploiting the situation for a photo op. YOU ALL have the power to change the laws but choose not to do so.
-
You meancConnel record filibusters when Obama asked to fix immigration?
-
Yes and also when
@POTUS offered a deal for DACA. The members of congress are willfully refusing to work together on any kind of reform. They forget that congress works for the American people. Both sides need to knock off the grandstanding & work together to fix it.

In all fairness, they care more about the phot op than either American citizens or illegals.
