VA’s Comprehensive Plan for Processing of Legacy Appeals and Implementing the New Appeals System
Modernizing the appeals process and implementing the Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017 (Appeals Modernization Act) is a top priority for VA. As part of that process, we’re working to keep Veterans and stakeholders informed through a series of periodic progress reports on our plan for processing legacy appeals and implementing the new appeals system. The reports include information on:
- The processing of appeals decisions on legacy claims.
- Implementing the new appeals system.
- Timely processing under the new appeals system.
- Monitoring the implementation of the new appeals system including metrics and goals.
