The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Transition and Economic Development (TED) partners within and outside of VA and with numerous federal agencies to advance the economic empowerment and independence of service members, Veterans and their families through increasing access to VA benefits, programs and services that support a seamless transition from military service to civilian life.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Increasing early access to VA benefits and services
  • Supporting military-to-civilian transition through administering the Transition Assistance Program (TAP)
  • Enhancing use of career counseling (Chapter 36)
  • Supporting federal, private sector and Veterans Service Organization (VSO) partnerships and collaboration to advance Veteran economic empowerment and well-being
