4 million American jobs have been created since November 2016 — 1 million of those since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act became law. In addition to unemployment numbers being at their lowest point in decades, job openings are at a record high — 201,000 jobs were added in August alone. And at the beginning of July there were 6.7 million job openings, marking the first time since 2000 that there have been more job openings than those who are unemployed. A record high 156 million Americans have jobs and more than 1.7 million jobs have been created because of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.

Thanks to a doubling of the standard deduction and lower tax rates, 90% of Americans saw bigger paychecks this year. Plus, more than 4 million Americans at 721 companies have seen raised wages, bonuses, and expanded retirement options. In fact, more than half of small businesses have plans to expand, boost hiring, or increase employee benefits.

In order to provide much needed relief for community financial institutions and hardworking Americans, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act has been signed into law. In addition, 16 CRAs have been signed into law, overturning some of the worst regulations from the end of the Obama Administration and saving billions.

With more job opportunities and lower unemployment, consumer confidence is on the rise and Americans are finally having a chance to become full participants in our economy and achieve the American Dream.

The American people are Better Off Now because Republicans have taken the lead to combat threats facing our communities and young people. We’re making an investment of more that $10 billion to stop the opioid crisis.

The House has passed dozens of bills to fight human trafficking, including the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, the Department of Homeland Security Blue Campaign Authorization Act, the No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act, and the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act, which have been signed into law. As a result, online advertising for commercial sex trafficking has gone down by 60-80%.

Important legislation and $3.5 billion in resources, including the STOP School Violence Act are making schools safer and addressing our mental health challenges. The Fix NICS Act, which takes several steps to strengthen the information contained in NICS to better protect public safety, protect Second Amendment rights, and curb gun violence, has also been signed into law.

Multiple bills, including the Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program Authorization Act, are strengthening our border security, better enforcing immigration laws, and targeting dangerous gangs like MS-13.

The Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 created a streamlined and efficient process to remove, demote or suspend any VA employee for poor performance or misconduct. The VA MISSION Act consolidated the VA’s multiple community care programs and authorities and provides further funding to sustain the Choice Program so veterans can get the care they earned and deserve.

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2019 provided a 2.6% pay raise for our service members, which is the highest increase in nine years. This well-deserved pay raise is an important way to show our thanks. The Department of Defense Appropriations Act has funded this pay raise and has been signed into law.

We’ve gotten tougher than ever in combating ISIS and other terrorist organizations, as well as potential nuclear threats like North Korea and Iran – and restoring the strength of our armed forces has been crucial in the progress we’ve made.

This new investment includes improving missile defense capabilities, upgrading combat vehicles, purchasing new Joint Strike Fighter aircraft and investing in new submarines. Working with President Trump, Republicans are working to ensure our military is fully manned and properly equipped.

After eight years of our military forces languishing under reduced spending and cuts, Republican efforts are bringing our armed forces out of this self-induced readiness crisis and restoring America’s military might.
