Annual FOIA Reports

What are Annual FOIA Reports?

The Annual FOIA Reports contain detailed statistics on agencies' FOIA activities, including the number of FOIA requests and appeals received, processed, and pending. These reports are required to be submitted to the Attorney General each year by no later than February 1st. Reports documenting DOL's FOIA compliance with this mandate are found here.

What are Chief FOIA Officer Reports?

In accordance with President Obama's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Memorandum of January 21, 2009, Attorney General Holder issued FOIA Guidelines on March 19, 2009, calling on all agencies to reaffirm the government's commitment to accountability and transparency. The Attorney General directed Agency Chief FOIA Officers to review “all aspects of their agencies' FOIA administration" and to report each year to the Department of Justice on their progress in improving transparency. Reports documenting DOL's compliance with this mandate are found here.
