Regulatory Reform

Since 1849, the U.S. Department of the Interior has been working to maintain and preserve the nation’s lands, waterways, and resources. At the Department of the Interior, stewardship of America’s natural resources is balanced with regulatory reform.

President Trump has made it a goal of his administration to reform regulatory requirements that negatively impact our economy and do little to protect the environment. It is estimated that regulations in the United States have cost the economy more than $2,000,000,000,000 (two trillion) in recent years that could have been spent on conservation, infrastructure, and jobs.

The Department of the Interior will play a key role in ensuring commonsense regulations reflect advances in science and technology and foster innovation and economic growth.
