The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) (1-866-667-6572) is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard private-sector employees' rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative.

National Mediation Board (NMB) (1-202-692-5050) protects the collective bargaining rights of railway and airline employees.

Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) (1-202-218-7770) protects the collective bargaining rights of federal employees.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) (1-800-772-1213) enforces federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.
