Need Help with Seed Cotton Allocation Decisions?

Seed cotton producers who want to participate in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) program for the 2018 crop year must enroll by Dec. 7, 2018. ***

Farmers with generic base acre farms and a recent history of covered commodities have a one-time opportunity to allocate all generic base acres on the farm.

Producers can use the decision aid tool developed by Texas A&M University’ Agriculture and Food Policy Center (AFPC) to decide how to allocate generic base acres to other covered crops based on planting history:  https://www.afpc.tamu.edu/tools/cotton-base.

For additional information, watch the following video featuring Dr. Joe Outlaw, agriculture policy specialist with the Texas A&M University AFPC and Texas FSA leadership.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE: ARC/PLC enrollment for non-generic base acre farms must be completed by Sept. 28, 2018.

Welcome to the Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Texas

At FSA, our mission is to do right and feed everyone.

Texas plays a vital role in United States agriculture. We lead the nation in the number of farms, and produce the most cotton, wool, and mohair in America.

The men and women of FSA work to ensure Texas farmers, ranchers, and landowners have access to all technical assistance, funding, and programs FSA has to offer. FSA serves all 254 Texas counties through a network of 173 county offices. The state office headquarters is located in College Station.

Since the implementation of the 2014 Farm Bill, FSA has invested an average of $1 billion each year into the stability of our state’s agricultural system.

We are committed to providing all available FSA programs throughout the state, including low-interest loans, commodity price support, disaster assistance, and conservation incentives. FSA programs are designed to provide an important safety net for farmers and ranchers during times of economic uncertainty, disaster, and emergency.

FSA is eager to assist all eligible Texas producers' agriculture endeavors. We encourage new customers, including beginning or underserved farmers and ranchers, to review resources available through FSA. We also welcome veterans, many of whom return home to rural communities, to consider agriculture as an option for their next career. We also support the growing group of women farmers who add tremendous value to the agriculture industry.

FSA directly impacts the lives of farmers and ranchers every day. We will continue to assist producers to ensure a safe, affordable, abundant, and nutritious food supply for all consumers.
