Additional Considerations Machine-readable passports have a machine-readable zone which can be read by a variety of scanners and kiosks that are used in some of the Trusted Traveler programs.

This option is only relevant for commercial truck drivers who frequently transport goods across the Canada or Mexico border.


 

Global Entry

Ideal for frequent travel into the U.S. from Mexico.

At the U.S.-Mexico border, members can use the expedited SENTRI lanes for quicker vehicle or pedestrian entry into the United States.

Proof of Citizenship (i.e. passport, U.S. I-551 Lawful Permanent Resident Card, birth certificate, etc) and any applicable documentation or visas necessary for entry into the U.S.


NEXUS

$50 USD

5-year Membership Fee


Ideal for frequent travel between the U.S. and Canada.

  • Self-report customs forms when entering U.S. or Canada via air
  • Greatly reduces typical time spent in U.S. and Canadian processing
  • Expedited processing into U.S. and Canada by vehicle.
  • Includes TSA Pre✓®

FAST (North or South)

$50 USD

Ideal for commercial truck drivers who are transporting low-risk shipments into the U.S. from Canada and Mexico.

Use designated FAST lanes to more quickly transport goods into the U.S. FAST participation requires that every link in the supply chain is certified under the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, or C-TPAT.

The Trusted Traveler programs (Global Entry, TSA Pre✓®, SENTRI, NEXUS, and FAST) are risk-based programs to facilitate the entry of pre-approved travelers. All applicants are vetted to ensure they meet the qualifications for the program to which they are applying. Receiving a "Best Match" or program recommendation based on eligibility or travel habits does not guarantee acceptance into any Trusted Traveler program.
