Citizenship and Assimilation Grant Program Archives

The Citizenship and Assimilation Grant Program is an important capacity-building initiative that provides funding to support citizenship preparation services for permanent residents.

Administered by the Office of Citizenship, the program funds competitive grants with the goal of expanding the availability of high quality citizenship preparation programs in communities nationwide, to include citizenship instruction and naturalization application services.

FY 2018 Grant Program

In FY 2018, USCIS awarded $9.425 million in grants to 40 organizations. The performance period is October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2020.

In FY 2016, USCIS awarded nearly $10 million in grants to 46 organizations. The performance period is October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2018.

FY 2015 Grant Program

In FY 2015, USCIS awarded nearly $10 million in grants to 40 organizations. The performance period is October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2017.

FY 2014 Grant Program

In FY 2014, USCIS awarded nearly $10 million in grants to 40 organizations. The performance period is October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2016.

FY 2013 Grant Program

In FY 2013, USCIS announced the availability of nearly $9.9 million in awards through one funding opportunity announcement. The performance period is October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2015.

FY 2012 Grant Program

In FY 2012, USCIS announced the availability of $5 million in awards through one funding opportunity announcement. The performance period was October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2014.

FY 2011 Grant Program

In FY 2011, USCIS announced the availability of $9 million in awards through two funding opportunity announcements. The performance period was October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2013.

FY 2010 Grant Program

In FY 2010, USCIS announced the availability of $8.1 million in awards through three funding opportunity announcements. The performance period of the direct services program was October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011. The performance period of the national capacity building program was October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2012.

FY 2009 Grant Program

In FY 2009, USCIS announced the availability of $1.2 million in awards through one funding opportunity announcement. The performance period was October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010.
