IOT Roadmaps & Reports

IOT promotes a clear vision of the future of state-government IT by following several key strategies..

First, IOT has developed a roadmap that helps agencies understand the enterprise initiatives and technologies planned for the next three years. Only those connected to the state network may view the roadmap.

Further, a new IOT department called Service Management helps staff align IT services with business needs through the use of Information Technology Service Management (ITSM), specifically the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) – a set of processes, procedures, tasks and checklists that are not organization-specific but that can be applied to the state’s overall IT strategy. These practices will help IOT establish a baseline from which it can plan, implement and measure its future services -- delivering value while maintaining a minimum level of competency. ITIL will be used within IOT to demonstrate compliance and to, where applicable, define and measure service improvement.

Additionally, IOT has established an advisory committee, known as the Tech Board, to facilitate collaboration among IOT, agencies, key independent stakeholders and state leadership to advance the use of technology to better serve citizens.

The Tech Board is structured along five “Line of Business communities that create additional opportunities for interaction and planning among agencies of common purpose and enhance the ability for common action. The Line of Business communities provide a forum through which agencies may highlight their IT-related issues to ensure they are addressed in a responsive and timely manner. The Tech Board also identifies, develops and recommends strategies and actions to the CIO for guiding enterprise and IOT support of agency missions.
