Prior to moving to Tallahassee, Julie spent four years as a political appointee for President George W. Bush’s Administration in Washington, DC, serving in four departments. Her first appointment was in the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as scheduler for Director Joe Allbaugh. In 2001, Julie transitioned to the U.S. Department of Labor where she was Special Assistant to the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration and later as Deputy Director of Scheduling for Secretary Elaine Chao.

As the Special Assistant to Grant Aldonas, Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Julie managed the Partnership for Prosperity Summit, the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) Ministerial in Miami and the manufacturing tour throughout the Midwest.
