DOT Five-Year RD&T Strategic Plan (FY 2017-2021)

The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) Strategic Plan presents U.S. DOT's research priorities for the next five years (Fiscal Years 2017-2021) and describes the activities taken by the Department to address those priorities. In doing so, the document provides a five-year action plan that responds to the trends affecting the current and future performance of the Nation's transportation system, as identified in U.S. DOT's Beyond Traffic-Trends and Choices 2045 document. The RD&T Strategic Plan meets the statutory requirements of the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act (Pub. L. 114-94), which requires the Secretary of Transportation to develop a five-year strategic plan to guide future Federal transportation research and development activities.
