Streamlining the enrollment process and premium administration into one system offer advantages to employees, agencies, payroll providers, annuity systems and the FEDVIP plans. Enrollees will only need to provide their personal information once and that information will be stored securely for future FEDVIP enrollment actions. BENEFEDS will be the one interface with payroll and annuity systems with standard file layouts. This eliminates the duplicative costs for FEDVIP plans to set up individual interfaces with all payroll and annuity systems.

Qualifying Life Events, such as if you or your spouse are called to active military duty, or if you transfer to an agency that offers its own dental and/or vision insurance program and that agency pays 50% or more of the premiums and you enroll in that plan. Most dental procedures are covered by all FEDVIP plans. The difference may be in the amount each plan will pay. Check the individual plan brochures to verify that the procedure is covered, what limitations (if any) may apply, and what amount the plan will pay. You can download each plan’s brochure at
www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/dental-vision/plan-information/.

Yes, diagnostic eye exams may be performed at COSTCO if they are a participating provider with your plan or if your plan covers out-of-network care. Check with your eye doctor and your plan’s provider directory to see if your provider is in-network because you will pay less out-of-pocket if you visit an in-network provider.
