About Vermont FSA

The Vermont FSA State Office is located in Colchester. There are nine county offices located in USDA Service Centers around the state. The nine offices are located in Brattleboro, Middlebury, Morrisville, Newport, Rutland, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, Williston and White River Junction. We have approximately 50 employees statewide dedicated to assisting the roughly 7,000 farms in the state and helping to provide economic stability for Vermont producers. FSA serves agriculture by providing federal program benefits such as annual operating loans and land purchases, commodity price supports, disaster relief, and conservation.

Meet Our State Executive Director

Wendy Wilton was appointed by the Trump Administration to serve as the State Executive Director of the Vermont USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in November 2017. Wilton was elected to the Vermont Senate in 2004, serving on Senate Agriculture, Judiciary and Education Committees. She received an award from the Vermont Farm Bureau in 2005 for advocating for Vermont farmers regarding land use policy. Wilton worked as a senior business advisor for the Vermont Small Business Development Center and as a bank loan officer in the Rutland region. She was the first woman to serve as elected treasurer of Rutland City, where she led several operational improvement projects, including restructuring loan debt, converting the city accounting system, regular account reconciliation, improved financial reporting and the development of a proposal to address pension underfunding. She also served as tax collector, delinquent tax collector and pension administrator. Wilton was a board member of Vermont and New England Government Finance Officer’s Associations. She was honored by the Vermont Municipal Clerks’ & Treasurers’ Association as the Treasurer of the Year in 2012. Wilton and her husband, Chuck, reside in Rutland. They have two children. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing and hiking in the Green Mountains of Vermont.
