Director statement regarding reporting for duty:
Inclement Weather in the Local Commuting Area -- Prepare. Plan. Stay Informed.
You are encouraged to be aware of weather conditions, keep your gas tank full and keep an emergency supply kit on hand. It is important to prepare your family for unexpected disasters and emergencies. Visit www.ready.gov/hurricanes to learn about preparedness kits, family emergency plans and more. For VA updates and the latest VA emergency response information, visit our site often.
If the VA New Jersey Health Care System is impacted by an emergency situation, it is the responsibility of employees who are not required to report to duty to contact their supervisor to determine their reporting requirements. During severe weather conditions and large snowstorms, employees are encouraged to use public transportation. If you must drive a privately owned vehicle to a VA medical center or outpatient clinic, the parking lot may not be available depending on the weather conditions. Police will direct drivers to the designated parking areas.
Please be advised that inclement weather may cause unexpected disruption or cancellation of the shuttle service between campuses. Employees should make every effort to stay at their duty station through the end of a large storm. If the storm causes disruption in the shuttle service, it may be without warning and employees may not be able to return to their duty stations on the shuttle due to weather conditions.
