Welcome to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion

Thank you for visiting the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI). ODI is here to provide a resource to NSF staff and contractors, NSF Awardees and those conducting business at NSF. We provide these resources through the programs below.

NSF AWARDEE CIVIL RIGHTS COMPLIANCE PROGRAM

Hi there! I am Bob Cosgrove, NSF Awardee Civil Rights Compliance Program Manager. I work with NSF Federally funded grant recipient institutions on their compliance with civil rights laws. I oversee complaint and compliance activities for Title VI, Title IX, the Age Discrimination Act of 1967, as amended and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

I annually coordinate at least two Title IX compliance reviews, and if someone informs me of sexual misconduct by a NSF grantee, I investigate the complaint. For more information on my program, please visit the Awardee Civil Rights web page.

If you have questions about your rights or would like to inform NSF of harassment or discrimination that you are aware of or have been subject to, please contact me at (703) 292-5310 or rcosgrov@nsf.gov. Please follow up if you have contacted NSF to inform us of harassment and have not received acknowledgment within 48 hours.

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM

Greetings, I am Edmund Rhynes, the EEO Program Manager. My goal is to help create an environment that will promote equal employment opportunities for all regardless of race, sex (including sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination), age, disability, color, religion, genetic information, national origin or reprisal.

So what does that mean to you? If you believe you are experiencing discrimination on one of the protected basis, you can reach out to me to explore your options for filing a complaint or early complaint resolution. For more information on my program, please visit ODI Complaints.

If you are an applicant, employee, contractor or conduct business at NSF and have questions about your rights, feel free to contact me at (703) 292-2104 or erhynes@nsf.gov.

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS PROGRAM

Hi, I am Pamela Smith Hall, the Disability Program Manager. I work hard to help remove barriers, expand employment opportunities and provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.

I will give you an example to help explain what I mean by this. To a person who has arthritis, typing may pose a serious problem and impact their work. I can have an interactive dialogue with the person to determine some possible solutions, such as the provision of an ergonomic keyboard or speaking to type software. For more information on my program, please visit Reasonable Accommodations.

If there is any way I can help make your working environment less strenuous and you are an applicant, employee, contractor or conducting business at NSF, please reach out to me at (703) 292-7328 or pjsmith@nsf.gov. Also, please note, medical documentation is often required for me to help process your request.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PROGRAM

Hello, I am Eric Bell, the Diversity and Inclusion Program Manager. Each day I come to work with one goal in mind, to cultivate an increasingly diverse, engaged, and high-performing NSF workforce. I work closely with leadership and staff to integrate inclusiveness within policies, practices and procedures.

The Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Group is one example of an intra-agency group that I work with to improve leadership engagement and collaboration on strategic and operational diversity and inclusion priorities in support of NSF's mission. I also prepare the agency's EEO Program report and coordinate, almost monthly, Special Emphasis Program observances to promote inclusivity and cultural awareness. For more information, please see our Special Emphasis Programs.

Please contact me if you have any questions about upcoming events or suggestions about diversity and inclusion initiatives at NSF. I can be reached at (703) 292-8803 or eabell@nsf.gov.
