  • New Research to Practice Brief! The NCEA is pleased to release its newest research publication: “Mistreatment of African American Elders.” This brief synthesizes recent information and research findings related to the mistreatment of African American elders, particularly involving financial exploitation and psychological abuse. This brief complements the NCEA’s existing research briefs on Latino elders and Asian Pacific Islander (API) elders. The brief is available to download in the NCEA publications database.

This enlightening webinar hosted by our subcontractor the Consumer Voice, touched on a variety of important topics including overview of resident-to-resident aggression in order to assist Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) programs in effectively responding to complaints involving resident-to-resident aggression, as well as help prevent RRA and reduce the prevalence of these incidents.

With funding from the Archstone Foundation, the Department of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC has created an educational brochure for caregivers of people with dementia about preventing elder abuse. This brochure provides information about elder abuse, tips for caregivers of people with dementia, example scenarios, and resources. This new resource is now available to download in both print and web versions in the NCEA Publications Database.
