Combined Federal Campaign 2018: FLETC Director’s Message

November 14, 2018
Combined Federal Campaign

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is gearing up throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  This year's CFC theme is Show Some Love, which brings us together in the name of giving.  Last year, federal employees across the nation and stationed around the world contributed more than $104.3 million to causes and charities meaningful to them.

I am proud of the spirit of caring and giving on display throughout the FLETCs every day.  Recently we wrapped up our Feds Feed Families campaign where we exceeded our goals, raising a total of 850,000 pounds!  Let’s keep that spirit going!

For six decades, the federal government has used the CFC to promote and support charities through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing team members the opportunity to give. Prior to the 1950's, on-the-job fundraising in the federal workplace was unorganized and uncontrolled, providing little benefits for charities, complications for agencies, and confusion for employees. In 1956, President Eisenhower formally charged the President's Advisor on Personnel Management with responsibility for the development and administration of a uniform policy and program for fundraising within the federal service.

Today, the CFC is the most inclusive workplace giving campaign in the world with more than 20,000 nonprofit charitable organizations worldwide. The charities supported range from small community groups to large, well-known charities.

CFC offers a variety of options to donate – payroll deduction, credit card, eCheck, paper and online.  Now there is also an option to donate time, allowing you to pledge volunteer hours, using personal time, to the charities of your choice.

Please join me in supporting the 2018 CFC Campaign and be on the lookout for more information about the CFC and how you can get involved.
