Everything You Need to Know About Using a Peach Pass

Have you heard about the new Peach Pass toll lanes just south of Atlanta? After a long wait, they're finally open and being used by motorists traveling on I-75 from State Route 155 in Henry County to State Route 138 in Clayton County.

Also, Peach Pass users can enjoy reliable traffic times and ease of travel in Florida and North Carolina. The Peach Pass is now interoperable with Florida’s SunPass and the QuickPass in North Carolina. That adds another 750 miles of eligible toll roads for Peach Pass users!

With all this expansion to Peach Pass usability, do you know how to take advantage of it? Let's take a look at the basics.

What Will I Be Charged?

Trying to figure out how much you'll pay to use the new express lanes on I-75? Is it priced per mile or per trip? For this post, we will speak specifically about the express lanes on I-75, as other express lanes throughout the state may vary slightly. 

When you access the South Metro express lanes, a toll sign will indicate the price of the trip depending on where you are. Your toll charge will be based on where you enter and exit the express lanes. For example, when you enter the toll lane, the toll sign may indicate a charge of "$0.50 To Jonesboro Road" and "$1.50 To Bill Gardner Parkway," which is where the express lanes end. Therefore, your toll charge will be $0.50 if you exit at Jonesboro Road, $1.50 if you exit at Bill Gardner Parkway, or something in the middle if you exit between these two.

Can My Toll Rate Change While I'm on the Express Lanes?

The great thing about the express lanes is that your toll rate will not change once you enter. When you enter the lanes, the system reads your Peach Pass and locks in the rate you were given when you entered. So even if the displayed toll rate changes 2 miles into your ride, your rate will not change.

Personal Toll Accounts

Peach Pass users have the option to maintain an online Peach Pass Personal Toll Account with a debit or credit card. When you drive in a Peach Pass toll lane, the fee is automatically deducted from your account. When your account balance has dropped to $10, it will reload to $20 using your card on file. Even though a Personal Toll Account requires more information than a Pay n Go! Account, Personal Toll Accounts provide a few more benefits to users. To set up your Personal Toll Account, you'll need the following:

• Name, address, and phone number
• Year, color, make, model, and license plate number of each car in need of a Peach Pass
• Initial $20 payment to open your account (this is credited to your account and will be deducted as you use toll lanes)
• A valid and active credit or debit card

If you have a Peach Pass Personal Toll Account, the transponder in your pass will give you the same access in Florida and North Carolina that you have here in Georgia. Just be sure to log in to your online account or call Peach Pass Customer Service, at 1-855-724-7277, to make sure your pass is tied to a valid and current license plate.

Pay n Go! Accounts

Pay n Go! Accounts are convenient for users who do not want to use a credit or debit card and prefer to pay in cash. Additionally, using a Pay n Go! Pass will not require you to provide any information about your car. Pay n Go! Passes can be purchased at CVS or Walgreens for any amount between $20 and $500 (plus additional fees). You can reload your card at any one of these stores any time. However, Pay n Go! users do not have online account access, will not receive important text messaging alerts nor have the ability to change toll modes.

If you have a Pay n Go! Peach Pass Account, you must convert to a Personal Toll Account prior to using the lanes in other states. You can call Peach Pass Customer Service or go to a local walkup center to make this change.

As of right now, Peach Pass users can enjoy toll roads in Florida and North Carolina. But, in the coming months and years, eligibility will expand to also include the E-Z pass network throughout the Northeast.
