Rehabilitation Research Fellowship
Thank you for considering the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DC VAMC) as the site for your post-doctoral training in rehabilitation research! We have a core group of program faculty and hospital colleagues who are committed to the post-doctoral education experience.
The Polytrauma and Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Research Fellowship (P/TBI Fellowship) at the DC VAMC reflects the high VA priority to address the complex rehabilitation of injured active duty service members and is uniquely targeted at doctorally-trained therapists and recent graduates within the broad field of movement science. The primary goal is to develop clinician-investigators with the appropriate research skills and clinical expertise to advance P/TBI rehabilitation who may assume positions of leadership across the country in the service of Veterans with polytrauma.
The DC VAMC P/TBI Fellowship is supported by the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) and Rehabilitation Research and Development of the Office of Research and Development. Approved P/TBI Fellowship candidates must have an earned doctoral degree and be a U.S. citizen. In addition, candidates on the Clinician-Investigator Track must have a current U.S. physical therapy license, and those on the Rehabilitation Scientist Track (non-clinical) must have an earned doctorate in a topic area related to movement science or biomedical engineering. P/TBI Fellows appointed as Clinician-Investigators will have 75% protected research and education time, with 25% time reserved for clinical practice and/or clinical leadership activities. P/TBI Fellows will serve at the DC VAMC and its affiliates for a period of two years and receive salary and research stipend from OAA.
