The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is dedicated to improving the health of pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care.

The Office of Policy Support (OPS) conducts program analysis and assessment that informs policymaking and management of Federal nutrition assistance. It also serves as FNS' coordinating point for program-related nutrition policy and services.

To continually remain effective in the thriving health of its participants, WIC teams with FNS’ Office of Policy Support (OPS) to conduct studies that provide analysis and evaluation of key policy and program issues for Congress and the public.
