Photos: Reaching Out to Idaho's Unincorporated Areas with Town Meetings
Many of you have heard me say that Idaho and Washington, DC, couldn’t be much further apart, both in distance and in philosophy. That is why one of the parts of my job I enjoy most is traveling our state, hearing directly from Idahoans.
Four years ago, I started the effort to hold a town meeting in every incorporated city in Idaho, all 200 of them. Now that we’ve accomplished that goal, we are beginning visits to Idaho’s unincorporated areas to reach out even further.
To date, we have added 39 more “unincorporated” town meetings to the original 200, for a total of 239 town meetings in Idaho. These meetings are documented on my website and we will keep them going.
Most recently I spent a Saturday in the rural areas around Moscow and Lewiston, including stops in Viola, Freeze, Princeton, Harvard, Nova and Lenville.
These meetings allow me to visit with you in living rooms, at picnic tables and dining room tables across Idaho. I appreciate the direct exchanges and the passion of Idahoans. Thank you. We will continue these intimate unincorporated town meetings as my schedule allows.
