Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) announced that the Silver Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) is set to receive a $1.25 million grant from the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). Cook had previously written a letter advocating for the grant. The Silver Valley Unified School District serves approximately 2,200 children in the High Desert.

November 11 stands as one of this country’s most important days of recognition as we pay tribute to those who defend our freedom. Veterans Day gives us the opportunity to honor the heroes among us. I’d like to thank every veteran who has served, and all those currently serving, for their incredible sacrifice to our great nation.
Our government must honor its commitment to make sure service members are never left behind. That includes making sure they get treatment for mental disorders caused by the trauma of war.
September 11 taught us that we can no longer ignore the threats of foreign terrorists who declare war on America. With hundreds of millions of dollars on hand from ransoms paid and outright theft, the Islamic State (ISIS) has emerged as the most well financed terrorist group in history.
Last week, a hacking scandal had the internet and every cable news station in a frenzy.
Recent polling has made one thing clear: Americans are unhappy with Congress. I work there myself, and I have to tell you, I agree.
