We must continue to build on the success of the historic tax reform legislation and deregulation to help American families, businesses and entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. 2018 has been packed with important debate, deliberation, and compromises as well as many successes. WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Comer was recognized by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) - the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization - with the organization’s Guardian of Small Business Award. This is NFIB’s most prestigious honor bestowed on members of Congress in recognition of their efforts to support small business issues.
WASHINGTON, DC - The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) has recognized Congressman Comer for having one of the most fiscally conservative voting records in Washington. This year, Congressman Comer is one of only 66 out of 435 House members to earn the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” for his distinguished voting record during the 2017 Congressional session.
Congressman James Comer’s staff and the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) are joining up to help First District residents with federal tax-related issues.

For decades, the city of Paducah, Kentucky has served as a major hub of the inland waterways system due to its strategic location at the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. To highlight the importance of the river industry to our region, I invited Representatives Jason Smith of Missouri and David Kustoff of Tennessee to join me in Paducah for a meeting with industry experts. We had a productive discussion on the economic benefits of our inland waterways system and explored ways to modernize and maintain this critical resource.

WASHINGTON – Wednesday, Congressman James Comer joined with Century Aluminum CEO Mike Bless, United Steelworkers Union VP Tom Conway, former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and other members of the China Trade Taskforce to call on the Trump Administration to take immediate action against unfair trade practices by the Chinese government within the American aluminum industry. This appeal took place at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman James Comer (KY-01) voted for the final version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1), which will lower taxes across the board for hard-working Kentucky families and job creators. Under the newly reformed system, an American family of four would save $2,059. Additionally, the bill will reduce the burden on small businesses and lower our corporate tax rates to levels competitive with the rest of the world.
On November 14, 2016, I was sworn in as the new representative for Kentucky’s 1st District. That night on the House floor, I said, “It is an honor of a lifetime to join in this great legislative body.” While it seems like yesterday that I made my journey to Capitol Hill, one year has passed and we have made great progress for our country. As we approach the end of November, I am thrilled to look back at what we have accomplished.
