Internships

Senator Cruz's Internship Program offers Texas students a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the inner workings of Congress. There are two six-week sessions during the summer as well as full-semester internships in both the spring and fall.

     2. A one page resume
     3. Two letters of recommendation (Letters may be emailed separately)
     4. A college transcript
     5. A one to two page college writing sample
     6. Note at which office you are applying to intern

Due Dates:
   • Summer internships: completed packets are due the first Friday in March.
   • Fall semester internships: completed packets are due the last Friday in July.
   • Spring semester internships: completed packets are due the last Friday in November.

Priority is given to students either from Texas or students enrolled in a Texas school who have completed at least their sophomore year of college.

This is a highly competitive process. Due to the limited amount of space and resources available, there are usually more qualified applicants than positions available.

Internships are unpaid, however, it is possible to receive internship course credit pending approval by the respective college or university.

Senate Judiciary Committee Clerkship

Senator Ted Cruz is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution.  He offers several clerkships in his Judiciary Committee office, positions that are open to law students or recent law school graduates.  Clerks are expected to perform legal research, write memos, analyze legislation, and assist with committee hearings, among other things.  Currently, we are accepting applications for Fall 2017 clerkships on a rolling basis. Due to the limited amount of space and resources, clerkships are unpaid, and there are usually more qualified applicants than positions available.

1. A cover letter detailing why you would like to be a clerk in Senator Cruz’s Judiciary Committee office
2. A resume
3. At least two letters of recommendation, which may be emailed separately
4. A copy of a law school transcript

Nomination to Attend a U.S. Service Academy

Nominations Process

Each year Senator Cruz has the honor of nominating qualified candidates to compete for appointment to United States service academies. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Cruz works hard to ensure that we maintain our commitment to all service members, and this begins with helping to identify our best suited future military leaders. Each applicant must complete a thorough application and selection process, ensuring that the most qualified candidates are nominated to lead our service men and women in combat.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates who wish to apply for a nomination must meet the following criteria:

• Be at least 17 years of age, but not older than 23 by July 1 of the year of admission.
• Be a United States Citizen
• Be a Legal Texas Resident
• By law, graduates of the service academies are appointed to active duty as commissioned officers and serve in the appropriate branch of the armed forces for a minimum of five years.

Applying for a Nomination

Applications for nominations to the Class of 2023 will open on Friday, April 6, 2018. In order to be considered for a nomination, all candidates must submit the following materials by the Friday, October 5, 2018 deadline. Please note this is NOT a postmark deadline, all application materials must arrive to the Austin office by October 5, 2018:

3. Four Letters of Recommendation
4. Official High School Transcript and College Transcripts (if applicable)
5. Official SAT/ACT Scores

*Please note that the scores of any exams taken after September 1, 2018 cannot be guaranteed to arrive by the application deadline.
