Congressman Alex Mooney Praises Committee Passage of THRIVE Act
Yesterday, the House Financial Services Committee passed H.R. 5735, the Transitional Housing for Recovery in Viable Environments (THRIVE) Act. This legislation allows a limited number of Housing Choice Vouchers to be used at transitional non-profits that have evidence-based models of recovery and life skills training. Today, the House of Representatives passed S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act by a vote of 258 to 159. Congressman Mooney is a member of the House Financial Services Committee and voted in favor of the bill. The bill was supported by every member of the West Virginia Congressional Delegation. Congressman Mooney Announces Funding for YMCA Initiative in Montgomery
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Alex X. Mooney announced $275,000.00 in grant funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission to the YMCA of Kanawha Valley.
This grant will allow the YMCA of Kanawha Valley to purchase new equipment and pay their start-up staffing cost for the new YMCA facility to be established at the Baisi Athletic Center in Montgomery, WV.
Congressman Mooney Welcomes More than $4M For Infrastructure Projects
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Alex X. Mooney (WV-2) welcomed $4,244,361.00 in funding from the Community Development Block Grant Program to critical infrastructure projects in the Second Congressional District. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides Community Development Block Grant funds to the state. Rep. Mooney supported this funding in the House of Representatives.
