Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-2) Statement on Voting for Rep. Jim Jordan for House Minority Leader

Today, Congressman Alex X. Mooney released the following statement in support of Congressman Jim Jordan for House Republican Minority Leader.

“After careful consideration of the candidates running for House Republican Minority Leader, I have chosen to vote for Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio. Conservatives across West Virginia have made it clear to me they were disappointed that Congress did not enact many of the conservative policies they voted for in the past several years. After the disappointing election results last week, I think we need a new leader who will present bold conservative alternatives to the failed liberal policies of Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats,” said Congressman Mooney. 

Background on Rep. Jim Jordan

Congressman Jim Jordan is a proven conservative fighter—who has led the charge of the past few years to defend President Donald Trump’s conservative agenda. Congressman Jordan was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus and was the first Chairman. Under his leadership, the House Freedom Caucus fought back against the Washington establishment and became the voice for liberty, limited government and the Constitution.

Congressman Jordan has Represented Ohio’s Fourth District since 2008 and has served as a past Chairman of the Republican Study Committee. He serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The House Republican Conference is set to vote on Wednesday, November 14th for the position of Minority Leader and the other Republican leadership positions. The full House will vote on Speaker of the House only on January 3, 2019.
