Internship opportunities run throughout the fall, spring or summer semester for college students. Students gain invaluable work experience and understanding of the functionality of a congressional office. Work hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but are generally 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In Washington, D.C., our interns are responsible for assisting my staff and me with a variety of tasks. Interns are responsible for answering phones, researching legislation, attending hearings and briefings, and responding to constituent letters on the various issues that come before the House. As a result, our interns have a firsthand look at the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Press and congressional internships are available.
Interns in our Los Angeles office will be asked to do many things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with research, as well as assisting with constituent casework and handling district-based projects of importance. Working in our Los Angeles office allows interns the opportunity to work directly with our constituents in the community.
