Langevin Presented with Superhero Award

Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) last night accepted the Superhero Award from the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) for his advocacy on behalf of people with Down syndrome. Congressman Langevin also delivered the keynote address at the NDSS event for the Society’s DC Young Leadership Network.

“I am so honored to accept the Superhero Award from the National Down Syndrome Society,” Langevin said. “Their work on inclusion and equal rights is an inspiration. I have met incredible advocates through the NDSS ambassador program, and to be a voice in Washington for these outstanding young leaders is a privilege.”

The NDSS is a non-profit organization that advocates for the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

“The National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) was pleased to recognize Congressman Jim Langevin of Rhode Island as our 2013 NDSS Superhero honoree at the NDSS DC Leadership Network event last night,” said Sara Weir, NDSS Vice President for Advocacy and Affiliate Relations. “Representative Langevin continues to be a tireless champion for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities in the U.S. Congress. We are grateful for his membership on the Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus and as a supporter of the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act.”

Congressman Langevin is a founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Disabilities Caucus in the House of Representatives.
