Energy
In Congress, I am fighting for an all-of-the-above energy strategy that lowers costs, supports job growth, and paves the way for increased energy exploration here at home.
That is why I voted to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline, voted to lift the ban on crude oil exports, and cosponsored legislation to block the Obama Administration’s so-called “Clean Power Plan” that would cost our economy more than $50 billion annually and has already been stayed by the US Supreme Court
I am also the author of the Federal Land Freedom Act, legislation to delegate the leasing and permitting process for energy exploration on federal lands to the states. As it stands today, the federal government is hampering domestic energy production by tying up the process in bureaucratic red tape. In 2014 alone it took, on average, 227 days just to process applications for permits to drill on federal lands.
Our states have the tools and regional expertise necessary to regulate energy production on their own timetables and in a safe, responsible manner. That is why my bill puts them in the driver’s seat and returns federalism back to our national energy discussion.
By harnessing America’s energy capabilities, we could lower prices, create jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and raise revenue to help tackle the debt burden in Washington. The more energy we produce in America, the stronger we will be as a nation.

For all the news surrounding the bungled roll out of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, one of the most disturbing aspects of the law was actually inserted into it by design.
Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Diane Black (R-TN), together with the support of 28 original House cosponsors, including Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise (R-LA), introduced H.R. 2511, the Federal Lands Freedom Act (FLFA) of 2013. The bill would give states the authority to develop all forms of energy resources on the federal lands located within their borders, excluding only those areas specifically designated off-limits, after establishing leasing, permitting, and regulatory process governing such activities.
