WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted today for HR 6, the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act. The bill passed overwhelmingly.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) joined his colleagues in the House in voting for a number of bills aimed at fighting the growing opioid epidemic. According to the US Department of Health and Humans Services, in 2016 more than 42,000 people died from opioid overdose and an estimated 2.1 million people suffered from an opioid use disorder.
WASHINGTON- Today, President Trump signed S. 204, the Trickett Wendler, Frank Mongiello, Jordan McLinn, and Matthew Bellina Right to Try Act. Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted for this legislation which passed the House with bipartisan support last week. It had previously passed in the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support.

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for H.R. 3590, the Halt Tax Increases on the Middle Class and Seniors Act. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 261-147.
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted for H.R. 2646, the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act. Cook is a cosponsor of this bipartisan bill, which passed with overwhelming support.
H.R. 2646 reforms the nation’s broken mental health system by refocusing programs and removing federal barriers to care. The legislation establishes an Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use to run the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency (SAMSHA) and helps coordinate mental health programs across the federal government.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for H.R. 5046, The Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Reduction Act of 2016. The measure passed the House overwhelmingly.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) voted today for H.R. 3716, the Ensuring Terminated Providers are Removed from Medicaid and CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) Act. The bipartisan bill's reforms would save $15 million by eliminating payments to fraudulent providers. The measure would also save millions of dollars for state Medicaid programs.
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) voted for HR 160, the Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2015. This bill passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 280-140. Cook is an original cosponsor of this bill.
The Medical Innovation Act of 2015 eliminates the tax on medical devices that was included in the President’s 2010 health care law. This legislation now heads to the Senate where repealing the medical device tax also has bipartisan support.
Washington, DC – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted today to pass H.R. 30, the Save American Workers Act. The bill passed the House today with bipartisan support. Cook was an original co-sponsor of the bill.
The bill repeals the 30-hour definition of full-time employment in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and restores the traditional 40-hour definition. Under current law, those employees who work 30 hours or more per week are considered full-time employees and companies must shoulder the burden of providing health benefits to them.
