Hello and happy fall!
Wyoming has already received its first snowfall and kids around the state are thinking about how much candy they can get on Halloween - good signs that October is in full swing.
It was great to see folks showing their support at the 2017 Wyoming Buddy Walk in Laramie earlier this month, along with the re-dedication ceremony for the Veterans Memorial Plaza at the University of Wyoming. The 14th annual Inventors Conference in Torrington was another great success. I hope to see more inventors at the conference next year.
Back in Washington, the Senate approved a budget resolution. The budget is focused on providing Congress with the tools it needs to enact meaningful tax reform in order to ensure hard-working Americans can keep more of what they earn. If we are able to do it right, it should mean more money for American families, which will help create new jobs and, in turn, raise wages across the board. I trust folks at home to spend their money more wisley than the federal government can. We should also simplify the tax code and make it fairer for all Americans.

Senate approves FY 2018 Budget Resolution supporting tax reform to help American families
The U.S. Senate approved the FY 2018 Budget Resolution focused on providing Congress with the tools it needs to enact tax reform to grow America’s economy and strengthen families and small businesses. Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., said the Senate’s Budget Resolution is focused on restrained spending and growing America’s economy through tax policies that put more money in the hands of hardworking Americans.
“This budget resolution is the first step to pro-growth tax reform, as it will provide the fiscal headroom needed for the tax-writing committees in the Senate and the House to produce tax reform legislation,” Enzi said. “Hardworking families deserve a system that works for everyone in order to provide higher wages and more jobs. Pro-growth tax reform can help U.S. businesses and their workers compete in the global marketplace, spur investment and job growth here at home, and free Americans to make their own decisions about how to spend their hard-earned money. Hardworking Americans want and deserve a more effective and efficient government. And a big part of that is making the tax code work for all American families and small businesses.”

Senate passes Enzi resolution supporting goals and ideals of National Retirement Security Week
In a national effort to help workers focus on their financial needs for retirement, the U.S. Senate designated October 15–21 as National Retirement Security Week. Enzi introduced the bipartisan resolution to designate the week, which the Senate passed last month without any opposition.
“Although the cost of retirement is significantly increasing, far too few workers are saving,” Enzi said. “Retirement security is not talked about often enough. Regardless of your age, it is never too early to look at options that can help provide the financial security you will need in the future. Knowing the best way to save for retirement can reap huge rewards down the road.”

Enzi accepting nominees to military academies
Enzi is accepting applications for nominations to the U.S. military service academies for the 2018 school year. The deadline is Nov. 10.
Every year, Enzi gives Wyoming youth considering military careers the opportunity to apply for a nomination to the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy at West Point and the Naval Academy.
“Military service academies provide exceptional opportunities to young people, including a quality education,” Enzi said. “These academies open doors and provide a unique set of experiences that graduates will carry with them throughout their careers. I highly encourage anyone who is interested to apply."
