Since Donald Trump was elected, I’ve spoken a lot about how we’re two very different guys from Queens, and how our divergent upbringings led to our very different world views. Mine has led me to fight for all people, no matter race, religion, gender, or ethnicity. His has led to a life of self-service and hate.

Yesterday I said goodbye to the House of Representatives after 20 years of service. Thank you to the people of Queens and the Bronx. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to be your voice.
My family is my everything. They taught me to pursue fairness and justice, to use my power – and my size, and my voice – for good. To give back.
I hope I’ve done that. And I hope my colleagues will keep working together to do the same.
