Internships

Internship Overview:

U.S. Senator Pat Roberts offers internships throughout the year in his Washington, D.C., office. The internship program provides a unique opportunity for students to work closely with Senate staff, assist Senator Roberts as he represents Kansans in Congress, and experience the federal government in action.

Interns in Washington, D.C., carry out responsibilities such as researching legislation, attending hearings, conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol, assisting with constituent concerns and mail, answering phones, and providing support to the administrative and communications staff.

Application Deadlines:

Spring Semester: December 15

Summer Session: March 25

Fall Semester: August 15

Note: While Senator Roberts' interns come from all over the country, preference for summer session interns is given to residents of Kansas and to students who have completed their junior year in college and are planning to return for their senior year.

Housing:
Housing is the intern's responsibility, although Senator Roberts' office will provide a list of available intern housing in the Washington, D.C., area.

Application Process:

There is an application form that must be filled out. Along with this form, you will be asked to submit a resume, a short statement, and three letters of recommendation.
