Declarations

  • The President approved California’s major disaster declaration request, triggering the release of FEMA funds for storm damages that occurred from January 3rd through January 12th(Santa Cruz and Santa Clara County were included in this declaration) and January 18th through January 23rd. (Santa Cruz and San Mateo were included in this declaration)
  • February storm declaration pending President’s approval

Small Business Administration

  • On March 21st, SBA announced that residents who reside in disaster declaration counties and suffered uninsured damages during storms between February 1st through February 25th are eligible for low-cost repair loans.
  • SBA set up offices to assist constituents in several counties including Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties. The offices opened on March 22nd and serve neighboring counties as well.
  • Applicants may complete the entire process online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.

Department of Labor

  • On March 22nd, the Department of Labor announced that it would provide a National Dislocated Worker Grant for up to $36 million – with an initial $12 million release to the California Employment Development Department. Funds will create temporary jobs for about 1,800 individuals to assist in the effort.
  • The grant will provide assistance to support recovery and clean-up efforts in 34 counties including Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties and are awarded under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

US Department of Agriculture

  • On March 22nd, the US Department of Agriculture designated 10 Counties in California as primary natural disaster areas and 15 counties as contiguous due to losses and damages caused by the drought. Farmers and ranchers in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Mateo counties are eligible for FSA’s emergency (EM) loans. For further information and to apply visit the FSA
