CARBONDALE — U.S. Rep. Mike Bost has supported a trio of human trafficking bills that, if approved, would provide more resources for health departments and law enforcement agencies trying to tackle the problem.
For many Americans, the phrase “human trafficking” conjures images of crimes committed in the back alleys of cities on the other side of the world.
The truth is even more sobering — human trafficking isn’t an isolated tragedy in some faraway nation. This is a reprehensible form of modern-day slavery that occurs in every state, and it’s happening every day.
As U.S. Rep. Mike Bost began speaking to constituents who signed up to receive a phone call from him Wednesday night, he said he wanted to hear whether people agreed with him or not.
“I don’t shy away from tough questions,” Bost said. “I’ll take as many challenging questions” during the hourlong telephone town hall.
