DCFS is organized into five Service Areas that are aligned with the Judicial Districts as set forth by the Supreme Court. Child Welfare and Adult Protective and Safety services include prevention activities and coordination, child and adult protective services, foster care and independent living, adoption, domestic violence, safety and treatment services, and educational initiatives. Economic Assistance programs include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Employment First, Aid to Dependent Children, refugee resettlement, energy assistance, child care subsidy.
