Congressman Don Bacon Named As Co-Chair of the 150+ Member Bipartisan Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth

May 11, 2018
WASHINGTON – This week, the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth added Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE) as a Co-chair of the Caucus. He joins Reps. Karen Bass (D-CA), Tom Marino (R-PA), Jim Langevin (D-RI), Diane Black (R-TN) and Brenda Lawrence (D-MI), who issued the joint statement below:

“This caucus’s goal is to develop approaches to ensure that our nation's vulnerable, yet resilient, youth are provided with the opportunities and support necessary to succeed. We’re pleased to welcome Don, an active member of the group already, to our leadership ranks and look forward to working with him on behalf of the youth of this country.”

“The benefits of foster parenting were first shown to me when my father took in a young man from Vietnam who came here with one suitcase,” said Congressman Bacon. “He was added to our family and I considered him a brother. Our nation needs a strong foster care system. Some of our nation’s children are raised in families that need extra support, but we can never give up on these kids. Angie and I have seen first-hand the challenges and many blessings of foster parenting and we want to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of children. As a new Caucus Co-Chair, I hope to continue my work to protect and support these children.”
