The First District is the proud home of Fort Campbell, which has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best installations in the U.S. Army. We must never take for granted the sacrifice our servicemembers, military retirees, veterans and their families have made for this country. Accordingly, Congress must work to increase defense funding, improve the VA, and ensure that our nation’s heroes continue to receive the benefits they deserve and have earned.

2018 has been packed with important debate, deliberation, and compromises as well as many successes. My Republican colleagues and I have worked hard to deliver on our promises to the American people and to uphold President Trump’s America-first agenda. While perspectives are diverse among the 435 Members of the House of Representatives, each of us play a significant role in serving our unique portions of the nation. Over the past year, and throughout the 115th Congress, it is important to reflect on some of the major accomplishments that lead us into the next Congress.
I am fortunate to represent a congressional district that many U.S. Military veterans call home. During my time serving in the state legislature, as Agriculture Commissioner and now as the Representative for Kentucky’s First District, I have had the privilege of meeting countless men and women who have bravely served our nation. My constituency of active duty and retired servicemembers and veterans have unique backgrounds and stories that reflect the incredible character of Kentucky and our nation as a whole.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Trump posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor to First Lieutenant Garlin Murl Conner in recognition of his extraordinary acts of bravery and selfless service to our nation during World War II. Congressman Comer joined First Lieutenant Conner’s family and friends at the White House to remember and honor this distinguished Clinton County native.

The following students have received appointments:
West Point
- Jackson Beal, Marshall County High School
- Tyler Cooper, McCraken County High School and the United States Military Preparatory Academy
Naval Academy
On November 14, 2016, I was sworn in as the new representative for Kentucky’s 1st District. That night on the House floor, I said, “It is an honor of a lifetime to join in this great legislative body.” While it seems like yesterday that I made my journey to Capitol Hill, one year has passed and we have made great progress for our country. As we approach the end of November, I am thrilled to look back at what we have accomplished.
