Congressional Art Competition
Each spring, a nationwide high school visual arts competition is sponsored by the Congressional Institute and the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of our nation and in each Congressional district.
The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in Indiana’s First Congressional District. The overall winner of this district’s competition will be recognized at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The winning artwork will be on exhibit for one year in the U.S. Capitol and will be displayed alongside art from Congressional districts across the nation.
Artwork submitted in the contest may be up to 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, including the frame. Framed artwork may not exceed 15 pounds. All entries must be an original in concept, design, and execution.
Accepted artwork mediums may be:
PAINTINGS
Oil, Acrylics, and Watercolor
DRAWINGS
Colored Pencil, Pencil, Ink, Marker, Pastels, and Charcoal (It is recommended that Charcoal and Pastel drawings be fixed)
PRINTS
Lithographs, Silk Screen, and Block Prints
MIXED MEDIA
TWO-DIMENSIONAL COLLAGES
COMPUTER-GENERATED ART
