WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate voted 51-50 on House Joint Resolution (H.J.Res.) 43, with a tie-breaking vote coming from Vice President Mike Pence. This measure overturns a rule from the end of the Obama presidency, which prohibited states from defunding abortion providers of taxpayer dollars.
Democratic senator, Joe Donnelly, sided with his party in voting against the measure. Republican senator, Todd Young, joined 49 other Republicans and Pence to approve the measure.
