Foreign Affairs
The United States must continue to take an active role in global affairs to ensure that America remains the most dominant force around the world. With the increasing turmoil in the Middle East, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggressiveness in Eastern Europe and China’s continuing rise, foreign affairs continue to play an important role. Through my position on Foreign Affairs and as a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly I am able to ensure that America’s best interests will be pursued internationally.

“America’s relationship with Russia is not binary and many of the issues discussed from energy, cybersecurity, and denuclearization need mutual dedication to reach solutions. However, Russia is not our ally and their motivations are not based on the promotion of democracy and human rights like the United States. Russia and President Putin cannot be trusted.
“I applaud President Trump for taking this historic first step in our efforts for diplomacy with North Korea. While more conversations are needed to detail the process, the initial agreement reached to completely denuclearize the Korean peninsula is a profound step towards peace. Since North Korea has shown time and again that they cannot be trusted, President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo must remain vigilant and ensure complete and total verification of denuclearization.
