WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07), member of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, released the following statement after the release of a single-payer health care plan in the U.S. Senate.

“Senator Sanders’ single-payer health care plan is one that my constituents cannot afford.  Most Americans would lose their health insurance plans if single-payer became law and dramatic tax increases would be unavoidable.  Those tax increases would fall across the board to meet the tremendous cost of the program.

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- U.S. Representatives Leonard Lance (NJ-07) and Diana DeGette (CO-01) have introduced bipartisan legislation called the Patient Experience in Research Act of 2017 (PERA) in the U.S. House of Representatives.  PERA will launch a pilot project to evaluate the psychological and social distress experienced by patients participating in a clinical trial of a drug or biological product that is intended to treat a serious or life-threatening disease or condition.

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- U.S. Representatives Leonard Lance (NJ-07) and Brian Higgins (NY-26) have introduced bipartisan legislation called the Cancer Drug Parity Act (H.R. 1409) that would require health insurance plans that cover traditional chemotherapy to provide no less favorable coverage for prescribed, orally-administered anticancer medications.  With the rising usage of oral medication by cancer patients, Lance believes this reform to coverage options will lower out-of-pockets costs for patients.

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) and his Energy and Commerce Committee colleagues secured a major legislative victory on Wednesday when the U.S. House of Representatives passed landmark reforms to the country’s mental health care system in an overwhelming vote of 422-2.  The Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act (H.R. 2646) now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
