Lance Offers Flake/Coons Russia Resolution in the House

Jul 23, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The bipartisan team of U.S. Representatives Leonard Lance (NJ-07) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) today sponsored a House version to the bipartisan Flake/Coons resolution in the U.S. Senate that 1) commends law enforcement for work against Russian election interference; 2) agrees with the findings of the Intelligence Community regarding nefarious Russian actions; 3) affirms that the Russian government must be held accountable; 4) calls for congressional review of the Helsinki summit, and 5) calls for the full and complete enforcement of sanctions punishing Russia.

There should be no confusion – Russia meddled in the 2016 election and must be punished for it.  The sanctions Congress passed overwhelmingly last year need to be enforced fully and lawmakers should be on the record supporting the findings of the Intelligence Community.  My resolution with Congressman Krishnamoorthi does exactly that,” said Lance.

U.S. Senators Jeff Flake (AZ) and Chris Coons (DE) drafted the legislation in the U.S. Senate last week and have attempted to pass it in the body.  Lance wants the U.S. House to take up the measure to put representatives and senators on record opposing the actions of Vladimir Putin’s government.  Read the resolution here.  Learn more about Lance’s efforts to hold the Russian government accountable at lance.house.gov/issues/holding-russia-accountable.
